Action against Suicide in Cumbria
Creating suicide safer communities through training, campaigning, resources and support to those bereaved and impacted by suicide.

There is hope
If you are having thoughts of suicide, want to support someone you are worried about or if you are grieving. Just know, you are not alone.

Training
We are the leading provider of mental health
and suicide prevention training in Cumbria. Our skilled Training Team aims to educate and empower individuals, companies and communities.
From Cumbria for Cumbria
We are a suicide prevention and suicide bereavement charity operating across Cumbria. Passionately committed to making our communities suicide safer through awareness raising and training and also offering support for those bereaved by suicide.
We want to work with the whole community to make an impact on our stubbornly high suicide rates in the county.

Join us in aspiring to a
zero-suicide society.
We have a vision of a society where suicide is openly talked about. Where people feel able to seek help when all feels lost, and are properly supported when they do reach out. A society where everyone understands the role they can play in suicide prevention, and where those bereaved and impacted by suicide receive the support they need, when they need it.
“Suicide is a preventable death and we need to help everyone see the role they can play – be it from being helpfully nosey, checking in, asking twice or helping building a more destigmatised society – suicide is everyone’s business.”
We tackle suicide in Cumbria
Every Life Matters was founded in 2019 by a group of people who were either bereaved by suicide, had lived with thoughts of suicide or were working in the suicide prevention field.
“Stigma stops people from seeking help, and others from offering help. Talking about suicide saves lives.”
Suicide rates
Did you know? Cumbria has some of the highest suicide rates in England and Wales, with over 5 people dying by suicide each month—more than double the number of road deaths.
Our mission is to reduce suicide rates in the county and encourage societal change when talking about suicide and mental health.
Stride Against Suicide 2024
Stride Against Suicide saw 250 people, in teams of up to five, take part and raise thousands of pounds in memory of a loved one. Competitors completed a total of 1,410 laps, showing that every lap matters because Every Life Matters.
